Toit Fishing Split Ring Pliers review (ingenious) - around £28 here in the UK

You might have guessed from the title of this blog post that I think these new split ring pliers from Toit Fishing are rather brilliant, indeed I look at them and I wonder why on earth nobody else has come up with this idea for how to make split ring pliers much better - which in turn only increases my respect for the man and the brains behind Toit Fishing, Warren Du Toit. If you are like me and you sometimes need to but also slightly dread changing split rings on lures, then dread the process no more because these things make it all so easy……………

There are currently three sizes of split ring pliers from Toit Fishing - Small, Medium and Large, and for the majority of the lures I would use for bass fishing which need split rings, it’s the Small size which is best suited. I could waffle on for ages here about how easy to use these very clever split ring pliers are, but instead you are far better off watching the video above which is Warren Du Toit explaining basically everything you need to know about these pliers and how to use them properly. I’ve got a regular pair of pliers here at home which I used to use for changing split rings, and whilst they work okay, with split rings they often bug the hell out of me. Without a doubt the whole process of changing hooks and/or split rings on various hard lures is now so much easier with these ingenious split ring pliers from Toit Fishing, and as somebody who works in fishing I seriously take my hat off to Warren.

You need to know that every product Warren makes under the Toit Fishing banner has been designed by him, and the lineup includes short nose pliers, side cutters, haywire twist pliers, and round nose pliers, plus a seriously good quality leather sheath and a brilliant coil-style lanyard which both work together with all the current tools (the sheath and lanyard are sold separately). Anybody with half a clue can see how much work has gone into all these products, and they look really smart as well. I am not about to start trying to change treble hooks and split rings when I am actually out bass fishing (but it’s different in the GT and tuna lure fishing world especially), so for me it’s a simple case of the Small size Split Ring Pliers living on my desk here at home. Because it’s work. Sort of!

If you come across very small split rings on much smaller lures then these things aren’t going to suit you, but considering that my go-to split rings of choice for bass fishing - here - are 7mm across, the Small size Toit Fishing split ring pliers are perfectly suited to the majority of the hard lures I would use. The fishing world isn’t just about bass fishing though, and Warren has made a Medium and a Large size of his split ring pliers, but for the typical lures we would use for bass fishing it’s very much the Small size I need.

This is such an easy review to write, mainly because these Toit Fishing split ring pliers are so damn clever and they are such a breeze to use, but also because the man behind the designs and the company makes such easy to follow YouTube videos about his products. No more do I slightly dread having to change hooks or split rings or both on a bunch of hard lures………..
