I’ve found some much cheaper and really good alternatives to the Under Armour “tights” that I always wear under my waders
Why anybody would ever wear anything other than compression style “tights” under their waders is beyond me, but horses for courses and all that. I am a 48 year old bloke who doesn’t give a stuff what he looks like, so whilst me in tights is hardly the stuff of dreams, who really cares when the right ones are so damned comfortable to wear under your waders - AND they are obviously underneath your waders anyway so who would ever know if something like a cotton candy thong was your thing? No, I am not testing out any samples! Sorry, I digress…………
I have blogged a few times before about the two main types of Under Armour compression leggings that I have worn for many years now - Heat and Cold Gear - and although they rarely need to be replaced they are firstly not that cheap, and secondly when it comes to me needing to buy some new ones, Under Armour are always changing their clothing names and styles and so on. The last set of Cold Gear leggings I bought are forever slipping down a bit when my older ones never used to for example. It’s no great problem but a while back I went looking around to see if I could find some alternatives. It took a few goes with Amazon and their outstanding returns service, but I have found what I think are some more than viable alternatives which happen to be a lot cheaper as well.
In place of my Under Armour Heat Gear leggings which I wear for the bulk of my fishing when the weather is say warm to not particularly cold, I bought the “Yuerlian 3 Pack Mens Compression Leggings Cool Dry Sport Pants Running Gym Tights” from Amazon right here. I am usually an XL but I went for the XXL size to try and prevent any “slippage”, and they are exactly the right size for me. I have worn these leggings loads now, including during that really warm weather we had, and to me they are just as good and comfortable to wear as the more expensive Under Armour Heat Gear ones I am so used to. £28.99 for three pairs of lightweight leggings which I wear for so much of my fishing is a bargain to me.
Then when it gets colder say at night or later into autumn and winter I found these rather excellent “Sub Sports Mens Thermal Compression Baselayer Leggings” from Amazon here, to replace my Under Armour Cold Gear ones. Again I went for the XXL size and I’m glad I did because these leggings are definitely a size out if that makes sense. They genuinely feel just the same to wear as my Under Armour Cold Gear leggings, there is no slippage at all, and for the colder nights coming up they are just the job. I bought one pair for £12 and they are so comfortable I bought another pair the other day. My two Under Armour Cold Gear compression tops are just fine for the time being, but when the time comes I will most likely go for something like this. I know this isn’t exactly the most exciting blog post going, but considering how much I wear BCWs for my fishing then what I wear underneath is really important to me. I tend to move around a lot with my fishing and I can’t see how anybody would ever want to wear jeans or trackie bottoms or stuff like that when compression style leggings are so versatile and comfortable, and let’s be honest here, downright irresistible!
