Help, it’s 15% off at Veals Mail Order for the rest of this week!
Please bear in mind that the fishing tackle I am going to highlight here today will all be based around affiliate links, as per the disclaimer I put at the bottom of any blog post which contains a link or links like these. As usual though it’s fishing tackle I currently use or have used myself. If you go looking around you might well find these same items of fishing tackle on a Black Friday sale somewhere else, but because I really like Veals Mail Order and I do some affiliate links with them, that’s the way it is. Please do not read any further if my highlighting what I think are some particularly interesting fishing tackle deals bothers you, but for the rest of this week there’s a massive 15% off every single item at Veals Mail Order with the code BF15 at checkout (this offer ends midnight Sunday 1st December). Maths was never my strongest subject at school so please excuse me if I have made any mistakes with the Black Friday prices……………
Favorite Black Swan 852H 8'5'' 16-56g lure rod (review here) - spoiler alert, but unless something changes in the next few weeks then this truly ridiculous lure fishing rod will be my lure rod of the year 2024. Nothing I can write or try to convey about this incredible rod will quite get across to you how good I think it is. I treat this Favorite Black Swan 852H 8'5'' 16-56g as a true 10-50g lure rod with how incredibly versatile it is. I think it’s amazing value already at the retail price of £289.99, but at £247 for the next few days it’s a joke. I am convinced that this is the single best lure rod I have ever fished with. The equally good 8’5’’ 10-36g version is £230.50 this week (review here), and the lighter and sublime 8’5’’ 6-24g is a rather silly £221 (review here). If there are none left it’s because I’ve been stockpiling!
APIA Foojin'RS Art Magic 90ML+ (UK Custom) 9' 5-36g lure rod (review here) - if you like a 9’ long lure rod and you need a rod which can deal with just about anything you can chuck at it then this is the rod for you. Typical APIA quality, and at £340 with the Black Friday discount it’s also a joke how much rod this is for the money. Out and out class. The very expensive and very, very good APIA Foojin'Z Testamatta 88MH 8'8'' 8-56g lure rod (review here) is a rather interesting £595 for the rest of this week, and that’s a lot of seriously high-end APIA rod for the money. The fascinating APIA Foojin’RS Vivogue 96ML+ 9’6’’ 6-38g (review here) upon which the new 9’ was based is a rather tempting £331.50 this week.
Major Craft Seabass Custom Marc Cowling Edition 88ML 6-32g lure rod - I have one here which I have been getting to grips with for a while, review forthcoming. Spoiler alert, we are talking about a very special lure fishing rod here, perfectly suited to UK and Irish bass anglers, and whilst the rod is not remotely cheap at £479.99, for this week only it’s a rather remarkable £408. Very fast, very light, very responsive, SO my kind of rod.
Shimano Stradic C5000XG (2023 model) spinning reel (review here) - if all the newest 2023 versions of the Shimano Stradic are as good to fish with as this C5000 version then I’m in. We are getting a hell of a lot of spinning reel for the money with these things, and at £187 for the rest of this week I feel even better about this thing. Bear in mind that any of these Stradic reels here also get the 15% discount.
Penn Slammer IV 2500 or 3500 - You know how much I love these heavier-duty spinning reels for so much of my lure fishing, and at £179 for the 2500 and £196 for the 3500 we are in serious bargain territory for how much these reels can do for you if you are okay with a slightly heavier reel on your lure rod or rods.
Savage Gear Gravity Sticks - I don’t need to tell you how much I like these soft plastics, and at £25.50 for the original kit this week I genuinely think it’s too cheap for how much you get. I also like the sound of £8.50 for the smaller 120 size mini-kits.
Savage Gear Slender Scoop Shad - I never go out bass fishing without at least a few of these lethal paddletails with me these days, and whilst they weren’t a cheap soft plastic from day one, 15% off feels a bit better.
Mainlines - Seriously liking this new Samson ‘36 Strong braid, now £29.75 for a 300m spool this week. Best braid I have ever fished with - Sufix 131 - was never cheap, but it’s £39.10 for a 150m spool or £68 for a 300m spool. The new and rather lovely Varivas Avani Sea Bass Max Power PEX9 braid is £38.25 and the very interesting with how well it seems to cut through wind and waves Daiwa J-Braid Expedition X8 braid is £32.30 for a 150m spool and £50.10 for a 300m spool.
IMA hard lures - the best range of hard lures out there? Wouldn’t be without the IMA 125F Hound Glide for starters, and that’s £17.85 this week. I am increasingly interested in the little IMA Chappy 80 surface lure and that’s £17. The IMA Sasuke 120 is an all time classic in my book, and that’s £18.70.
Penn Conflict Elite lure rods - A range of higher-end lure rods which I don’t hear much about, but which I have fished with a hell of a lot (various reviews of them here). Outstanding rods which are perfect for the way we go about our saltwater lure fishing, and with 15% off them we are edging towards daftly good value for money.
Savage Gear Sandeel Pencil - a range of very long-casting and very shallow-swimming hard lures I wouldn’t be without, I regularly fish with the 90, 125 and 150 sizes, indeed if you like the 150 size you want to grab them while you can because they are being discontinued. Guess who’s been panic-buying?!
Overboard Explorer Waterproof Backpack - THE best waterproof rucksack I have found for how I combine my fishing and photography, but this is an Amazon link I found if that helps. I use the 45litre size but I would guess that the smaller 30litre version would suit most lure anglers really well. I went and checked and there’s a massive 30% off these rucksacks on Amazon at the moment.
Disclosure - If you buy anything using links found around my website, I may make a commission. It doesn’t cost you anymore to buy via these affiliate links - and please feel entirely free not to do so of course - but it will help me to continue producing content. Thank you.
