Always a strange time of year! Felt like spring for a few days, now it feels like winter again. Somewhat reflective of the world at the moment?

I was using a new piece of software to catalogue my (massive) photo library and it really struck me how lovely and spring-like it looked in some recent photos I shot of myself when I was trying out some new estuary ground the other day. No need for a waterproof jacket or thermal compression gear, so easy to move around, some decent warmth on the face, mullet moving around, signs of bass having been there at some point, you know what I mean. A typical March, teasing you with lovely glimpses of better weather to come…………….

And then I went for a walk with Storm just after 6am this morning and I got caught in a mixture of hail and rain in these howling NW winds. My hands froze, my eyes started streaming, and it felt just like winter all over again! Nobody could ever accuse our weather of being boring, and it always seems to be that first proper glimpse of spring in March which gives us hope but then cruelly takes it away with a change in the weather. The world seems to be in a particularly mad state of flux at the moment, and I for one have never felt so determined to love life and enjoy the (simpler?) stuff we do which doesn’t seem to cost more money literally every time you leave the house. Go fishing more basically!
