Some new colours of the Savage Gear Sandeel V2 and Sandeel V2 Weedless lures are now available

Does the colour of your lure make a difference says Henry as I try to stop myself disappearing down yet another bass fishing related rabbit hole! One session something colour related happens and I think the colour of my lure is vital, then the next session the bass don’t seem to show any preference at all and I am back to square one. One thing I can do though is talk myself into a white lure in almost any bass fishing situation, but that’s another story entirely………………

What I wanted to tell you this morning is that there are three new colours of the Savage Gear Sandeel V2 and Sandeel V2 Weedless lures which have just hit the market - Mackerel, Blue Sandeel and Clear Sandeel. I knew about these new colours but I wasn’t sure when they were going to be available to buy. I saw them on Veals Mail Order this morning when I was on their website which to be honest I shouldn’t be with my lure related issues. In these three new colours there are the two main sizes of Sandeel V2 - 12cm/22g total weight and 14cm/33g total weight - and also the two main sizes of the Sandeel V2 Weedless - 11.5cm/22g total weight and 13cm/33g total weight.

For my own, mostly shore based bass lure fishing I use the weedless versions by far the most. This is largely down to the fact that I am often using a mixture of straight swimming the lure(s) and also bumping them along the bottom which is often seriously rough ground. I know that some anglers reckon on connecting with a few less fish when using weedless hooks, but I can’t personally say that I have ever seen a difference and I don’t worry for a single second. The regular Sandeel V2 is your classic sort of “whack it out and wind it in or fish it on the drop” sort of ready to fish soft plastic lure, whereas the weedless version with its rather clever jig head design is the most versatile version for a lot of my shore based fishing. Anyway, three new colours are available, and in case you were wondering, I wasn’t asked by any grownups if I could put this post up. It simply doesn’t work like that…………….
