One of the items of fishing tackle I have loved fishing with the most this year is the brand new, smaller size Penn Slammer IV 2500 spinning reel. You can check out my review of this reel here - there’s a video I put together on the reel in there as well - and whilst I am absolutely nothing to do with either the development or pricing of this reel, I was kinda hoping that Penn might be able to do it for just under the £200 mark here in the UK. Well that isn’t the case, but today with 15% off the Slammer IV 2500 it is. Momentarily of course. With the prices of the new Slammer IV range I do happen to think that the already awesome Slammer III 3500 has become an even better reel again when compared to the price of the new IV 3500 version. Hell, I’ll take the lot!
Another spinning reel which I am enjoying fishing with is the new Savage Gear SGS8 4000, but as I blogged about the other day, it’s far too early for me to tell whether this thing has got serious legs or not. It feels very solid and smooth, I know plenty about who is behind it and where it’s made etc., and this does help fill me with confidence. Would I take a punt on this thing at 15% off especially? I know it’s easy for me to say when I get to use this gear for nothing, but if it was my money I’d be very tempted - and especially with a 5 year warranty.
