A wand, plain and simple. This Major Craft Tidrift 8’6’’ 862L/ML 5-30g weighs a measly 114.5g and it’s so easy and effortless to fish with. If you like smaller lures and don’t tend to bass fish with much more than about 25g then this rod is seriously worth looking at. Review here.

Major Craft Tidrift 9’6’’ 962ML 7-35g

I reckon this Major Craft Tidrift 9’6’’ 962ML 7-35g is impossible not to like. Wow. The Skyroad rods have been discontinued, but now we have this Major Craft Triple Cross EU Custom 9’ 10-30g lure rod which to me is slightly better yet still a penny under the £200 mark. What a rod. See my review here.

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-862ML 8’6’’ 10-30g (discontinued)

It’s just ridiculous how good these Major Craft Skyroad rods are, and this 8’6’’ 10-30g version is up there with the 9’ for me - as good a rod for the money (sub £200) that I have ever come across. An out and out bass lure rod of course, but I have also seen this thing land good pollack and wrasse from the shore as well.

Major Craft N-One NSS-962ML 9’6’’ 10-30g

The new Major Craft N-One NSS-962ML 9’6’’ 10-30g just does it for me in a major way, indeed I can’t find a method or lure that I might use for UK and Irish bass fishing that trips this rod up. Check out my review here.

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-902 9’ 7-23g (discontinued)

I love the idea of a lighter, more sensitive lure fishing rod, and this amazing Major Craft Skyroad SKR-902 9’ 7-23g is one of the best ones I have come across. Just a joy to fish with, born to fish soft plastics rigged weedless and weightless, incredible with surface lures. See my review here.

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-902ML 9' 10-30g (discontinued)

It’s almost ridiculous that a lure rod as good as this Major Craft Skyroad SKR-902ML (9', 10-30g) costs just under the £200 mark, because I’d gladly pay plenty more for it. Yes, I think this rod is that good. See my review here.

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-962 Surf 9’6’’ 5-28g (discontinued)

Flat out one of the best lure fishing rods I have ever had the pleasure of fishing with, and the fact that as of May 2015 this thing is for sale at around £180 in the UK makes it an absolute steal. See my review here.

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-1002 Surf 10' 7-35g (discontinued)

Sure it’s longer than I would usually use, but this Major Craft Skyroad SKR-1002 Surf 10' 7-35g rod is just so efficient, and for its length it really is quite something. See my review here.

(R)D419387.jpg

Major Craft Skyroad SKR-832MW Wind Custom 8’3’’ 7-21g (discontinued)

Designed for wind fishing (not entirely sure what "wind" fishing is anyway), but personally I reckon this is a seriously impressive, fast action all round lure rod for the slightly lighter side of bass fishing. See my review here.

Major Craft Truzer TZS-902ML 9' 10-30g

This Major Craft Truzer TZS-902ML 9' 10-30g lure rod is about as awesome as a lure fishing rod can get if you ask me. Simply incredible for so many of the ways in which we might go about our lure fishing for bass, and I’ve also smashed some nice wrasse on it as well. Review here.

Major Craft Truzer TZS-962ML 9'6'' 10-30g

As of December 2014, this Major Craft Truzer TZS-962ML 9'6'' 10-30g lure rod is right up there as one of the best lure rods that I have ever been lucky enough to fish with - and if you know how I tend to favour the shorter lure rods, this is quite something for me to fall so hard for a longer rod. See my review of it here.

Major Craft X-Ride XRS-862ML 8’6’’ 10-30g

I have not fished with this rod for long enough to give it a full blog review, but I have used it enough to say that it’s one serious bit of kit. Plenty powerful enough, nice and fast but very easy to fish with, I can’t really see how much better an 8’6’’ lure could actually get.

Major Craft X-Ride XRS-902ML 9' 10-30g

This has to be the same or near as dammit the same blank’s that used on the ridiculously good 9’ Truzer, so for around the £250 mark here in the UK, this Major Craft X-Ride XRS-902ML 9' 10-30g is incredible value for money. Check out my review here.

(R)D429954.jpg

Major Craft X-Ride XRS-962ML 9'6'' 10-30g

This Major Craft X-Ride XRS-962ML 9'6'' 10-30g lure rod is in my opinion at least remarkably close to the more expensive 9’6’’ Truzer, and quite possibly we are talking about the same rod blanks here. See my review here.

Major Craft X-Ride XRS-962M 9’6’’ 15-42g

This Major Craft X-Ride XRS-962M 9’6’’ 15-42g lure rod is just so easy and effortless to fish with that I could pretty easily use it for much of my bass fishing - and it’s giving me the ability to whack those larger lures out there and also not have to push the lighter stuff that bit harder in rough conditions. Check out my review here.
