Tough bass fishing out here at the moment, but we’ve got good backups and our anglers are a blast
If there is one thing you notice about this part of the world here in Kerry it’s signs of bait, but if there is one thing that is really standing out at the moment is a lack of these signs. Virtually no birds working for starters, and it’s translating to some tough bass fishing for our anglers. In a perfect world we desperately want to put out anglers onto good bass fishing, and we work bloody hard to do so. When there seems to be almost no reason for the bass to be around here though, well we give it a seriously good go but we can also pull away and go chase fish like pollack and wrasse on the lures, fishing ground that is most likely never fished unless we are on it………………….
We tucked away yesterday for example in an amazing area that just screams pollack and wrasse, but unless you know the one out of the way track and little parking spot you would never even know the ground exists. Loads of chunky wrasse on soft plastics and a few pollack further out, split up by a picnic lunch and a few cups of tea out of the wind and in a bit of sunshine. For sure our anglers are coming all the way to this part of Ireland for the chance at some really good bass fishing, but you know as well as I do that things don’t always go to plan. It’s times like these when the backup options we have around here can keep the rods bending while we try and figure out the bass fishing jigsaw puzzle that occasionally feels like multiple parts are missing.
