This potentially wonderful time of year for bass fishing can often be a juggling act!
I wanted to say a big thank you for so many kind comments posted on Monday’s blog post. When the comments started coming in I simultaneously felt really bad because my intention when writing the blog post was never to solicit your wonderfully positive interactions, but also really happy that this fishing thing we all love so much can be such a force for good in so many different ways. Thank you so much………….
Has anybody else been out and about either fishing or walking the dog or running and so on, and been struck how gloriously autumnal it really feels out there? I was out for a dog walk at 6.30 this morning and it could not have felt more like autumn if you tried. Rain in the air but so mild I was walking in a t-shirt, the leaves continue to fall from the trees and then swirl around in the strong onshore winds we have at the moment, and because this fishing thing consumes so many of for so much of the time, I was obviously thinking about where I might be fishing when it’s like this.
Which I am not doing right now because of a load of work I have on this end, but I am one of those anglers who obsessively keeps on the various fishing related resources/apps - winds, tides, swell, webcams etc. I was speaking to an angler I know a while back and I was quite taken aback when he told me how he wasn’t remotely interested in what was going on out there as regards conditions when he wasn’t able to go fishing. Because I am the exact opposite - I want to remain as well informed as possible. Even if I can’t actually go fishing, I would always argue that what is going on right now helps shape and influence what might be going on when you can go fishing. How about the simple mental exercises which revolve around imagining where might be very fishable when you can’t get out there or if the conditions are really challenging? Or do I quite simply need to find some help?!
