SuRPpa lure cases - an interesting way to carry your lures, £9.99 for ten of them

Please note that I am not remotely looking for a different way to carry my lures with me when I am out fishing, but when something comes across my radar which I think that some of you might find useful, I’m going to tell you about it. My two Savage Gear washable lure boxes - one with vertical slots, one with horizontal slots - sit by my side in a lure bag thing which drains when I am deep-wading or fishing in the surf etc. I also really like that RBB Surf Supporter II lure bag in the surf especially (review here).

So these simple and rather clever SuRPpa lure cases look like nothing more than a fairly stiff sort of plastic sleeve - until you squeeze it open, drop your lure inside, then when you stop squeezing the case basically reforms and holds the lure in place. No hooks to snag you or your waders or lure bag up, it’s really quite ingenious. I quite often see bass anglers who are surf fishing especially putting a few lures in the front pockets of their BCWs for example, and I think these SuRPpa lure cases would be perfect for this. I am also aware that other anglers might not even use lure boxes and could instead cover their trebles with those treble hook protectors and stuff lures loose in bags or pockets and so on. These SuRPpa lure cases are another way of achieving the same sort of goal but keeping your hooks very much out of the way and nice and tidy.

What I can’t tell you is how long these plastic sleeves might last. I have tried these 180mm SuRPpa lure cases out with hard lures up to 140mm, various soft plastics like the Savage Gear Sandeel V2 Weedless, plus of course the Seeker and Surf Seeker. All lures I have put into these plastic sleeves are held nice and tight once you stop squeezing them open, and I can’t really see how fairly regular size lures are going to slip out of one. It’s got to be miles better than stuffing a few Seekers in the chest pocket of your BCWs and risking hook points putting holes in the wader material etc.

I reckon £9.99 for 10 of these 180mm SuRPpa lure cases isn’t too bad, and if they last for a good while then I like the sound of them even more. As I said, I am not about to change how I carry lures, but at the same time I always keep my eyes and ears open. If a better system comes along then I am perfectly open to it. We all do things a bit differently though, hence this blog post.
