My Monday moan went and worked! We got some conditions and fish were found……..

Okay, so it was only the one bass landed, but at around the 5lb mark and with the sort of weather we have been getting and which I had a good old moan about on Monday, I am over the moon for Mark catching this fine fish below yesterday afternoon. He was out for a dog walk on the coast and gave me a shout to say that the water was looking pretty damn tasty, he came up with a cunning plan, and he caught a decent bass. I didn’t, but I was there to see the fish AND the light got really good for a short while, so all in all I’ll take that thank you very much indeed!

And of course in some respects it’s also hugely frustrating. In between all the crap weather we get a window of decent water and sea conditions - and there are fish around. We have done well around this area at this time of year many times before so in truth it was no great shock to see at least the one bass yesterday afternoon, and especially with the water we found. I was surprised not to see more fish to be honest, but some of the ground seems to have changed a bit and I wonder if we need to approach the mark a little differently next time around - which of course I am hoping is over the next few weeks because the weather gods want to give us bass anglers a nice, weather related Xmas present!

Both Mark and I had independently ordered the same colour of Hound Glide copy the other day, the rather good Payo Perca 125 Mac Tune Floating Jerkbait in the yellow-back “Perca 7 Chartreuse Gizzard” colour, and this was what Mark landed his bass on yesterday. These Hound copies have been really good for me, but Mark banged his one into a rock later on in the session yesterday and the bib broke off. He didn’t bang the lure particularly hard and this hasn’t happened to me before, so I wonder if it was a flaw in that one particular lure? The lure is going to be replaced which is good, but over the years I have put the original Hound Glides through hell with no hassles at all.

And talking of IMA lures and Hound Glide copies, I heard this week that IMA lures are officially coming back into the UK very soon thanks to the UK Major Craft distributors, Tackle Wave. A big fat yippee!!!! I love IMA hard lures for my bass fishing and I know and really like the people behind Tackle Wave here in the UK, so all in all this is great news. The icing on the cake is that IMA Japan are now making their killer IMA Hound 125F Glide lure available to international distributors once again. Xmas come early? I believe there are a few Hound Glides coming in on the first order, and then sometime next year there should be a load of them available once more. How about that? A weather window, a nice bass, and IMA lures coming back into the UK. Father Christmas is real!
