Last day of fishing out here, how quickly could I become a Canadian citizen?
The one thing we didn’t expect out here on the east coast of Canada was a heatwave, but for a couple of days now it’s been very hot and also quite humid. I can’t get across to you the scale of the place, and we are only on Prince Edward Island which is admittedly a pretty big island already with over 1,100km of shoreline!
Have a look on Google Maps and fry your brain! Water, water everywhere, and my head wants to go into meltdown when you start thinking about how much striped bass fishing there could well be up and down this east coast of Canada……………
We found some very close-quarters fishing yesterday morning, with the striped bass literally stacked up in a bunch of depressions in the sand. Big blue skies, very bright and warm, but the fish were feeding hard and tearing our lovely paddletails to pieces. A bunch of times John and I literally made underhand casts which resulted in double hookups.
I had a nice striper which might have nudged 15lbs and I made sure to really enjoy the multiple scraps because there is no getting away from it - I love our fishing back home, you know I do, but if we had but 10% of the stocks they have out here we’d have a 100% better sport fishery for our own bass. I’m heading out for a run now before we go and find some current and see if we can’t hook up with a few more of these magnificent fish. You all have a good weekend and I will catch you next week when I am back home in Cornwall.
