Heard about another double figure bass on the Gravity Stick Paddletail, it’s always such a buzz when these lures work so well for an angler
It’s a big thanks to the angler concerned for contacting me to tell me about a pretty epic shore fishing session where he landed two standout bass - an 11lb 3oz donkey of a bass and another bloody good fish of 9lb 4oz (old skool weighing of fish, I do love it!). He didn’t have to get hold of me, and of course I have no idea where these magnificent fish were caught, but it was so kind of the bloke to actually say “it’s many thanks to you” (me!) because he caught them on a Savage Gear Gravity Stick Paddletail…………..
Which as you know seriously makes my day. There are plenty of really good soft plastic paddletails out there and I am not trying to claim that the Gravity Stick version sits at the top of the tree. But I also can’t argue with the bass that these things have produced and continue to produce. I get the fact that you can only ever catch on whatever lure you are actually fishing with at the time, but we can say that about any lure out there. For the first time in my fishing life I got to help design and bring to market a range of soft plastics that are perfect for a lot of my bass fishing, so of course I am going to use them. If you read this blog then you will know that my own largest shore caught bass to date came on a white Gravity Stick Paddletail.
But a bigger buzz to me is when other anglers choose to buy specific lures in which I have had a strong involvement - and they go and catch good fish on them. It’s so kind when anglers contact me to tell me about their successes - thank you! From the photos of these rather special bass that I have seen, it looks like it was the wakasagi colour Gravity Stick Paddletail rigged on a belly-weight weedless hook that did the damage. The 11lb 3oz bass is a proper lump. I am off to Ireland tomorrow for a couple of weeks of guiding work so I will do my best to keep this blog updated with our exploits…………
