Happy New Year, welcome to the new-look website, 2021 is surely going to be a whole lot better!

A very Happy New Year to all you kind people wherever you happen to be, and the chances are that you are under some kind of restrictions and you can’t be doing anywhere close to all that you would love to be doing. We are going to get through this and I firmly believe that by the time I am wishing you all a Happy New Year for 2022, life is going to look a whole lot better again. Let’s hope that it’s all going to be a lot better a lot earlier than another year down the line, but whatever the case, Happy New Year, and good riddance to 2020. My eternal thanks as ever to the amazing people in the UK who have been on the frontline of this bastard virus for far too long now - we are forever in your debt…………….

For a while yesterday morning the light got rather lovely…………

For a while yesterday morning the light got rather lovely…………

I put a book project to bed not long before Christmas, and literally the moment I checked the last spread I got to work on revamping this website. It has always been me on my own here work wise, and for a fair few years now I have used the rather clever and intuitive Squarespace website platform. The fact that people like me with no experience of coding websites can do all that we need to do to “create”, maintain and then sometimes change the look of our websites still strikes me as pretty remarkable. That is what I wanted to do really, change the look of my website to help make it a bit more visually appealing, but the core of what it is remains of course - my blog, lure fishing tackle information, and a way to show a bit of my fishing photography to the world as such. On the new blog page for example, you can keep scrolling down to more easily get a look at a lot more of my older posts. On the homepage you can keep scrolling down until you find a gallery of fishing photos from 2020 which let’s hope stays parked as was the strangest year we have ever known. I hope you like the new-look website, please tell me if there are any internal links which aren’t working properly, and thanks as ever for coming on here.

Sorry!

Sorry!

I did go out fishing yesterday morning for a go at a New Year’s Eve bass, but before I could head out I had to defrost my car for fifteen minutes. I am heading out again this morning and it looks like an even harder frost here in south east Cornwall, but it does amaze me how good the gear is that we can wear these days for our fishing, and how easy it still is to move around and fish while staying warm. It’s going to be a nippy one this morning though! I did catch a nice bass yesterday morning which I think was possibly nudging the 5lb mark, but please excuse the quality of the photo above. As you can probably tell if you follow this blog, I am not one for shots of me with my fish, but I am being “encouraged” to change this. I am therefore exploring ways to easily and efficiently take the odd shot of me with a fish, and yesterday morning I took my new little GoPro out for the first time. By pure chance I was filming a wide shot of me out on the rocks when I went and hooked my bass (I will try and around to cutting the footage together), and then I tried to get a few photos of me holding it. As you can see from above my first attempt was woeful at best, but hey ho, it’s a New Year, and as much as I don’t like shots of me plus fish, I am going to do a lot of work on trying to make them better quality! I will tell you more about yesterday’s session on another blog post, but in the meantime, Happy New Year. Stay safe and well and we are going to get through this………….
