Happy New Year 2024 (and I notice that a load of white Surf Seekers have come into stock)
Happy New Year to you all, I hope that you all had a good Christmas with family and/or friends, or maybe both. As always I can’t quite believe it’s the start of another year, but it is, and if the weather gods could do some behaving and allow us a chance at a few winter bass I’d be very grateful. Bloody hell we have been copping it recently, indeed the photo below is from the 22nd December which turned out to be my last bass session of 2023. I haven’t fished since, mostly because of the conditions, but also because I wanted to spend plenty of time with family and friends. It looks like high pressure is coming in later on this week so I will be back at it as soon as I think the conditions are okay………………..
Please excuse part of the title to the first blog post of 2024, but a lot of anglers have been contacting me over the last few months to ask where on earth they could get hold of white Savage Gear Seekers. As you know I work with Savage Gear and as a result Pure Fishing as well, but somebody fairly insignificant like me in such a big organisation is never going to have anything to do with when specific items are in stock or not. For sure I’d like to be able to better influence when bass fishing tackle especially is available, but I have done a lot of internal research and querying the whole stock or no stock process. It’s incredibly complicated and way above my paygrade! I was in Padstow the other day and I saw a bunch of white Surf Seekers in the Padstow Angling Centre, so I put a post up on my Facebook page in case anyone was interested. I was then contacted by some tackle shops and accounts I affiliate with who told me that they also had just received stock of a load of white Surf Seekers.
If you are after these killer metals in the White Pearl colour then it might be worth checking out your local tackle shop to see if they have any stock. You can also find white Surf Seekers via my affiliate links with Veals Mail Order here, and Glasgow Angling Centre here. Other colours work really well as I am sure many of you know, but with how effective the white ones can be I do understand the urge to own a few. I do like a nice simple bass lure that covers a huge amount of water.
As we start the new year I consider myself very fortunate to still be here. I ran a total of 96.3km in December - my best effort so far - because getting the chance to properly recover from a severe heart attack is something I don't take lightly. A lot of people have been through far worse stuff than me, but I can’t ignore what has happened to me this year and I am doing my best to be around for a while longer. I would like to thank so many of you for a lot of very kind comments and messages of support this year, it's massively appreciated and I am truly grateful. Here’s to 2024 and whatever it may bring for all of you. I will continue to go bass fishing when conditions and tides allow because there always seems to be a chance around here, but roll on April and what I tend to think of as the start of the new season. I am off to SW Portugal in a few weeks for another crack at the bass out there, or rather I fully expect to be taught another few lessons by the ground and conditions while I continue trying to get my head around this unique fishery……………….
