Away doing some filming with Savage Gear, hectic!
Sorry for the lack of meaningful blog posts so far this week, but I am away doing some bass fishing related filming with Savage Gear. As per usual with filming stuff, it’s hectic! I am working with really good people so it’s a lot of fun, but the simple fact is that anything filming related takes a lot of time and effort………..
I got the stitches taken out of my back last Friday afternoon and then the wound opened up overnight, so on Saturday morning my plans for going fishing were messed up with trying to find somewhere where they could take a look at what is now an open wound. I have so much respect and gratitude for the NHS, but to be honest the people I ended up seeing could not have been more unhelpful when I was asking various questions about what I needed to do with an open wound because I knew I was going to be away for a few days for this filming work, then next week I am off to Ireland for a couple of weeks of guiding work. I guess they were having a bad morning!
Anyway, I did get out fishing on Sunday and because I’m up against it with time I thought I’d copy and paste the words I put up on Facebook: At the time it felt like a very logical decision, but in hindsight it was a bit of guesswork which ended up working out. I couldn't find any bass way up the river so I changed things up and went almost to the mouth of the river instead, almost opposite a place I used to do a lot of cod fishing in fact. Some pretty deep water on an early flood tide and once again it was a pink coloured lure which got me the only bass of the session - the pink Savage Gear Sandeel V2 14cm/33g to be precise. It would have been lovely if my one fish had been a bit closer to that incredible bass which Danny Parkins caught yesterday (find it on Facebook if you can, it’s a bass of a lifetime, seriously good fishing, serious respect), but my say 4.5lb "monster" was in great shape, with stunning colours and those really muscled-looking shoulders bass sometimes seem to have. I love it when a bit of guesswork comes together...........
