A bunch of videos we shot over in Ireland on this Savage Gear shoot are starting to appear on YouTube (sorry!)

I might be a bit wider but infinitely wiser these days, but it still doesn’t detract from the fact that I don’t enjoy watching myself doing my thing in front of a camera anymore than I used to back in the day when I presented a few TV shows with truly epic and original titles such as “Fishing with Henry”! But I do really enjoy communicating about fishing, and when Savage Gear first mooted the idea of shooting a bunch of videos based around lure fishing with a bunch of our new lures and various products, straight away I suggested heading over to where I do my co-guiding work in Kerry………..

So we did, and although the bass fishing was pretty tough for the few days we were there, we worked our backsides off and we got a hell of a lot of footage on bass, pollack and wrasse fishing. For some reason I find the talking to camera bit pretty easy, and I really enjoy it, so as always with filming related work I must give the bulk of the credit to the crew, and then to the poor sod (thank you Ben!) who has to scrub through all the footage and edit it down to the videos which are starting to appear on YouTube. I would also like to thank John Quinlan for helping us out so much when we were over there. I am convinced that night fishing for bass would have thrown up plenty more fish, but filming at night without BBC budgets and camera technology is basically impossible to do properly if you don’t want to flood the area with bright lights.

I have only had time to have a quick watch of a couple of these videos, but the easiest way to keep up to date with them coming out is to subscribe to the Savage Gear UK YouTube channel here, and then hit the notification “bell” so YouTube lets you know when a new video appears. There are plenty more videos to come so please feel entirely free to feel happy/sick/weird/fulfilled/excited! (delete as applicable) at the sight of me yapping to you from your phone, tablet, computer or TV. In all seriousness though I am really proud to be working with these people. We have got so many plans and ideas for the future. A tackle company obviously needs to sell fishing tackle, so if we can help anglers catch more fish by better understanding how to target various species then the whole thing works. You all have a good weekend, happy viewing if you are brave enough to watch these videos………….
