LURE FISHING RODS - SHIMANO

Shimano lure rods are often frustratingly hard to get hold of, but I think there is a strong argument that they make the best rods for our lure fishing which I have come across so far.

Shimano Dialuna S96M 9'6" 8-45g

I don’t know how Shimano Japan make such good lure rods, but this Shimano Dialuna S96M 9'6" 8-45g lure rod has very quickly become THE rod I turn to when I need a bit more power for heavier lures and/or gnarlier conditions - yet it also does pretty damn well when I then turn around and put a DoLive Stick into a fizzing gully. Shimano Lunamis S90ML 9’ 6-25g (Jig Max 32g)

Damn, damn, damn! I had talked myself out of wanting a lighter lure rod until this incredibly versatile and can’t stop fishing with it Shimano Lunamis S90ML 9’ 6-25g (Jig Max 32g) came along. If you want to spend this kind of money on a lure rod rod then I reckon a lot of UK and Irish anglers could actually do all their shore based lure fishing for bass on this thing. Amazing rod. Not cheap, but it’s available here in the UK, and this incredible Shimano Lunamis S96M 9’6’’ 7-35g lure rod is one of those 9’6’’ rods I seriously don’t like putting down. SO my type of lure rod. Review here.

Shimano Lunamis S96MH 9’6’’ 10-45g (Jig Max 56g)

For me and how I like my lure rods, this Shimano Lunamis S96MH 9’6’’ 10-45g (Jig Max 56g) is another great bit of kit. Very powerful but easy to use, really well made, and about the best “next step up in power” lure rod I have fished with. Yep, this thing seriously floats my boat. See my review here.

Shimano Exsence Genos S90MH/R 9' 8-48g

The most versatile, truly, truly “do it all” lure fishing rod that I ever used or owned. This utterly incredible Shimano Exsence Genos “Wild Contact 90” S90MH/R 9' 8-48g could well end up being the only lure rod I own and use - it does that much, and it does it all so well. Amazing. See my review here.

Shimano Exsence Infinity S900ML/RF 9’ 5-32g

As of February 2018 this Shimano Exsence Infinity S900ML/RF 9’ 5-32g lure rod is the most stunning and accomplished “near as dammit do it all” 9’ lure rod I have ever fished with. Holy frigging cow it’s a disgrace how good it is. See my extensive review here.

Shimano Exsence Infinity S906M/RF 9’6’’ 6-38g

As per the 9’ version. As of May 2018 this is the best 9’6’’ lure fishing rod I have ever fished with. Hugely accomplished, seriously versatile, and does all that its rating suggests. I am in love. See my review here.

Shimano Dialuna S90L 9' 5-25g

A peach of a lure rod! This Shimano Dialuna S90L 9' 5-25g almost sits in between a very light and a regular kind of lure rod, and it’s just an absolute joy to fish with. Crumbs have I got a growing thing for Shimano Japan lure fishing rods. Review here.

Shimano Dialuna S96ML 9'6" 6-32g

Three rods into this newer Dialuna “S” range of lure rods and I am once again blown away by how good this Shimano Dialuna S96ML 9'6" 6-32g lure rod is. It just works so well for how I go about so much of my lure fishing for bass here in the UK and over in Ireland. A seriously class 9’6’’ lure rod. Review here.
