HOOKS, CLIPS, SPLIT RINGS, WEIGHTS, ETC.
The various hooks, lure clips, split rings, jig heads, weights etc. that I use for my lure fishing.
Savage Gear 6/0 and 4/0 Weedless Corkscrew hooks
These are the hooks we designed for the Gravity Stick soft plastics, but of course they work just as well with other lures. There are two versions of these Savage Gear 6/0 and 4/0 Weedless Corkscrew hooks. The 6/0 either with a 3g belly-weight or without, and the 4/0 either with a 2g belly-weight or without. These hooks deliberately have a slightly larger than normal eye to allow for natural movement of a lure clip.

Breakaway Mini Link, HTO Lure link, seadra SpeeD Lure clip (lure clips)
If there’s an easier to use lure clip than these rather clever Breakaway Mini Links then I haven’t come across them yet, and I think they are just fantastic. They are also nice and cheap. Four+ years of use review here. The HTO Lure Link clip is just the same and it seems to be manufactured to slightly better tolerances than the Breakaway version these days. The Seadra Speed Lure Clip also does the same job.

Savage Gear Savage SGY 2X treble hooks
Finally, a replacement treble hook that refuses to rust, they are at a reasonable price (I do wash my lures in freshwater after use), plus they are on the market and I can actually get hold of them when I need them. I have used these Savage Gear Savage SGY 2X treble hooks so much now and I know how good they are.

Savage Gear Inline Single Hooks
I use these Savage Gear Inline Single Hooks on all my Surf Seeker and Pencil lures especially. They just work. I like the size 2/0 ones for the Sandeel Pencil 90 and also for the middle hook on the bigger Sandeel Pencil 150, and then I use the size 3/0 on all the Surf Seekers plus the rear of the Sandeel Pencil 125 and 150.

Savage Gear Stainless split rings
Almost by mistake I have found these Savage Gear Split rings to be absolutely perfect. Combine them with a good quality treble or single hook and they simply refuse to rust - bearing in mind that I do wash my lures down in freshwater after use. I have had to replace most split rings on my hard lures over time, but I have yet to find a single spec of rust on these Savage Gear ones. I tend to go for the 7mm size for most of my hard lures, and then either the 7mm or the bigger 9mm size for my Seekers.

Savage Gear Ball Jig Heads
A huge range of really good J-hook style jig heads in all kinds of sizes and weights, but for some reason we never hear about these Savage Gear Ball Jig Heads in the saltwater world. I use the size 4/0, 5/0 and 6/0 the most, in weights from 5g through to 20g. Easy to rig, more versatile than I used to think, I find myself fishing with these specific jig heads more and more.

SAVAGE GEAR BALLS CLIP ON WEIGHTS
Yes, they do look a bit suspect, but these Savage Gear Balls Clip On weights are really interesting. Clip them into the bigger eyes on the Savage Gear 6/0 and 4/0 weedless hooks designed for the Gravity Sticks - and then swim or bump or sink and draw whatever soft plastics you want to fish with. I like how these clip on weights give me more options, and they don’t negatively affect the action of the lures. Available in 5g, 7.5g, 10g and 15g weights.

Mustad Kaiju single lure hooks
Easy to get hold, not very expensive, these Mustad Kaiju single lure hooks are the business. As per a blog post here, all my surf lures are now rigged with single hooks, and I especially like these Mustad Kaiju hooks size 2/0 and 3/0.

Varivas Avani Ocean Works Power (split) Rings
Such an innocuous part of lure fishing, but I like split rings that I trust and which last, and I have a lot of time for these Varivas Avani Ocean Works Power Rings. I have never, ever had an issue with these split rings, and I use the 4mm/40lb ones the most for our bass fishing.

Seadra hitch-hiker coil
Bloody brilliant. Easy to use, they make soft plastics last a lot longer, and as I found out recently, you can in fact use these hitch-hikers on regular weedless hooks instead of only specialist ones like the excellent Owner Twistlock hooks. More information here about rigging various soft plastics with these Seadra hitch-hiker coils.

Varivas Gran Hooking Master (Monster Class) weedless hooks
If there’s a better weedless hook for wrasse fishing especially then I haven’t come across it. These Varivas Gran Hooking Master (Monster Class) weedless hooks in sizes 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0 especially are perfect for the kind of soft plastics we might use for wrasse, and I have never had one of these awesome hooks start to bend out on me. They are very, very strong.
