Savage Gear SG4 wading jacket
This thing has really grown on me. Very lightweight, nice and simple and with nothing annoying to get in the way, properly waterproof, this Savage Gear SG4 wading jacket just works. I would like a bit of a better sleeve design, but a cheap pair of sweatbands helps with that. I am an XL in most things and the XXL version of this wading jacket fits me perfectly with room to layer up underneath if required. Review to come.

Vision Koski breathable chest waders (Ikon replacements)
Damn these newish Vision Koski breathable chest waders have got a lot to live up to as the Ikon replacements, but I am happy to report that they are suitably brilliant. Tougher material, very comfortable, what’s not to love? Phew! Review here.

Bestard SAR Pro Water Rescue Boots
A year on with these things and I’m sold. The Bestard SAR Pro Water Rescue Boots are not actually designed for fishing, but they happen to work perfectly. They feel like a lightweight, really comfortable pair of hiking boots, and they are handmade in Spain to spend their life in and around water. It’s hard going back to far clumpier and heavier wading boots after these things. Review here.
HUK sun face mask and HUK sun gloves
I always was careful in the sun, but after coming through a melanoma I am even more careful. I find it a lot easier to wear a sun protection face mask when I am fishing over slapping sun cream on, and I also wear sun gloves a lot of the time as well. I have tried a lot of different face masks and sun gloves, and about the best I have come across so far are these items from the US fishing clothing brand HUK.

bridgedale coolmax liner sock
The only socks I ever wear for fishing when I am wearing waders, these Bridgedale Coolmax Liner socks are perfect. Nice and thin so it’s easy to get your wading boots on when you are wearing your waders, and as far as I can work out these socks seem to last forever. Not cheap, but with how long they last and how good they are I think they are worth every single penny of what I paid for them. One of my best ever finds!

Vision Pupa wading jacket
Easily as good as the discontinued Vision Kust jacket, this newish Pupa wading jacket from Vision just works. Lightweight, extremely well cut and comfortable, easy to move around in, and essentially perfect for my fishing. So much thought has gone into this fantastic jacket. Review here.

Vision Vene waterproof jacket
Another fantastic item of fishing clothing from Vision. This Vene waterproof jacket is a touch longer than a wading-style jacket which I really like (useful for surf fishing). Easy to wear but make sure to buy one size up from what you would usually go for, this is my go-to waterproof jacket for those colder spring, autumn and winter days or nights especially. Review to come.

Guy Cotten Efficient C130 Smock
Seriously good waterproof and very lightweight smock, from the French brand Guy Cotten who make bombproof commercial fishing clothing. I tend to prefer waterproof jackets over smocks, but this Guy Cotten Efficient C130 Smock is that good I love wearing it for my fishing. See my review here. Perfect for surf fishing especially.

Dunlop safety boots as wading boots
These cheap as chips Dunlop safety boots are doing brilliantly as wading boots and they won’t break the bank when they go and fall apart and I need to buy a new pair. All details can be found here and here.

Under Armour (baselayers/under-wader wear)
I have tried a whole bunch of different base layer type garments for wearing underneath my waders when I go fishing, but I keep coming back to the outstanding Under Armour Heat and Cold Gear because I can’t find anything that works as well. I love this stuff. Nope, I was not designed to wear compression gear, but it’s some brilliant stuff.
